Khushi woke up early the next morning and got ready to leave to the temple. She was however stopped from going out by Nani who wanted her at home to arrange for a small pooja for Anjali and the new kid.
For the first time in three weeks Khushi was disappointed.
She wanted to meet Geet di and spend time with her but somehow the meeting was hindered.
Arnav saw khushi feeling low as he came down. She was not her usual self and this got him slightly worried. He was watching her from the corner of his eyes when she served his food. She was smiling but then it did not touch her eyes.
Arnav then noticed her looking at the clock often and then at her cell phone. Khushi was trying to call Geet but her phone was engaged. She had to inform Di, not to wait for her and continue the shopping.
Arnav sensed her need to use the phone. He had been quiet observant without her knowledge and had seen her most of the time over the phone. She used to sit in the bench at the garden and talk, laugh, smile and pout over the phone. He was very curious to know who it was, but at the same time his manners prevented him from eves dropping or finding out who that was. He often heard her talking about Lucknow, sweets, games etc., Once he heard her saying someone that she wanted to continue her studies and study interior designing.
Arnav was surprised. Of all things she wanted to be an interior designer??? He decided to surprise her with the admissions for the best college. He was waiting for an exact occasion to give her this special gift.
Khushi slipped away from the dinning area to give a call to Geet. This time the phone rang. Once the call was attended, Khushi as usual blurted out. “Di!!!! How many times to call you??? Where were u?? Di, I cant come today. Naniji wanted me to arrange for some pooja for my nanad at home. I’m sorry Di. I really really really wanted to come and…. She could’nt continue as she was shocked hearing a deep voice. She paused and checked the no that she dialed.
Maan couldn’t help but laugh out loud at the girl’s rant. She was so much like his Geet non stop Lucknow express… Her voice was so warm and almost brought out a different feeling into him. A sense of protection and affection budding in him. He now understood what had made Geet so loving towards her.
“Wait Wait Wait!!!!! Jalebi, take a breath. He laughed again. Jalebi, Geet is in the kitchen and so I took her phone. I will tell her that you cannot accompany her in her shopping trip ok???
Khushi was embarrassed . She should have asked who was on the other line. All her fault. She strutted “ Ji Aaap… Mein… Maaf kijiyaeh..Humeh, who…. Sorry… “ Maan laughed again and said “Koi Bath nehi. Acha, what is your actual name??? “ Khushi replied “Khushi and you are Maanji hein na??? Geet di has said a lot about you”
Maan : She never stops if she starts. I know….
Khushi : Accha, hmmm…. Maanji…
Maan: Are Jalebi, Don’t call me Maanji. It seems very odd.
Khushi : Han… then I’ll call you jiju???
Maan thought for a while. Listening to this sweet voice he was reminded of his Gudiya. And of course her name is also Khushi.
Maan: Khushi, do u have any other jiju??
Khushi: Haan, mera jiji ka husband who is also my dewar.
Maan: Thou teek he. Then call me Bhai as I want a little sister and call Geet as Bhabhi here after.
Khushi was surprised and was very happy. Maan’s voice reminded her of another voice, a long lost one that she always heard when ever she pulled out a Sanka Devi act. Though she could’nt just put her finger and say, she was still feeling very relieved and happy listening to Maan.
Khushi: Teek Hei Bhai. Just tell Geet Bhabi without fail. Hum rakthe hein.
Since then, khushi always spoke to Maan when ever he was around when Geet was on call with Khushi.
Khushi so wanted to meet her Maan Bhai and so was Maan to meet Jalebi.
